Way back on August 13, 2015 — we know, we know, we have a lot of catching up to do, as we mentioned before — Dermot turned 1. He had a Dr. Seuss-themed birthday, complete with lots of great decorations, a scrumptious cake (thanks, Auntie!), Lorax and green eggs and ham treats, and lots and lots of presents from his generous friends and family!
Oh, and Dermot quite enjoyed his smash cake, as the below video will attest!

My Mom-Mom & Pops gave me one of these trucks for Christmas so I took a ride on my cousins’ to test it out and see what it was like. It’s awesome.
Mom-Mom & Pops gave me my new monogrammed Easter basket early. It had books, a bunny and this cool caterpillar toy!

Addie spent the weekend with us and we took Dermot’s first trip to the Aquarium. Dermot slept for the majority of the trip and woke up just in time to eat a bottle in the lobby before we left and headed to lunch.

And someone sat in a highchair in a restaurant for the first time.
Dermot weighed 17lbs at his 6 month check up. We started solid foods a week before he turned 6 months. He loves food and has a hearty appetite. He enjoys listening to music, playing in his office (exersaucer) and just hanging out. Gone are the days of the little baby that needed to be carried around or moving all of the time, he is happy to just chill out.
Addie was here for the weekend too!

What a big boy! He loved facing outward in the bjorn the other night while Mom prepped dinner.
Dermot isn’t even 3 weeks old yet, and he’s already the most popular member of the O’Brien family. He took his first trip to Walpole to meet Nana Jean (and visit with his crazy relatives), and later in the week met his Uncle Tommy (on his way to his freshman year at Merrimack) and then his Uncle Chris (who made a special trip up to visit his godson). And to cap it all off, we finally have a picture of Dermot with his Uncle Mike (since Dad forgot to take a picture when Uncle Mike met Dermot… though in Dad’s defense, Dermot was pretty busy Skyping with his cousins).
Nana Jean just lit up when Dermot came into the room… she said she wanted to keep him!

Uncle Tommy stops by to meet his nephew on his way to Merrimack. Once he’s walking, Dermot plans to visit his Uncle Tommy to go to some college parties.
Dermot fell asleep on Mom-Mom’s lap (wearing the very cute outfit she gave him)…
…then fell asleep in Pops’ arms. Pops is the (self-proclaimed) baby whisperer!

Dermot’s cousins wanted to see how tall he was compared to them. He still has a ways to grow!
After 9 days in the Special Care Nursery, Dermot got the all clear from his nurses and doctors to come home with his Mommy and Daddy on Friday. This was also the first chance he had to meet his crazy cousins in person (after Skyping with them the week before). It was a big day for the little guy!

Dermot thought this wasn’t his most flattering picture, but who cares — he passed his tests with flying colors and was ready to go home!
A day after the dress rehearsal (when he passed his car seat test), Dermot strapped in for the real thing…
…and away we go!

The little guy isn’t able to have as many visitors as we may want given that he’s in the Special Care Nursery, but the grandparents and a few of his aunts and uncles have stopped by to meet him. Crazy Mom-Mom and Pops even drove all the way up from Lancaster through a rainstorm to see their first grandchild!
He’s doing great and progressing well, so we’re hopeful he can see his cousins, his other aunts and uncles, and the rest of his “aunts” and “uncles” very soon.

We have a feeling Mom-Mom and Pops are going to spoil this little guy.
Uncle Stuey stopped by to see Mommy and Dermot, but Dermot was sleeping so we weren’t able to get a picture. We’ll have a chance to take that picture soon enough!
Poppy stopped by to meet Dermot, and the little guy was asleep the whole time!
Nana met Dermot on Wednesday morning, but didn’t get a chance to hold him until today.
Crazy Uncle Jimmy was also here, but said both “I don’t take pictures” and “I don’t hold babies until they’re at least a couple of weeks old.” Unlce Jimmy also told Dermot that he already has more hair than his Dad. Thanks, Uncle Jimmy!
Later tonight, Auntie Tina, Uncle Mike and Dermot’s cousins (Addie, Colin and Bridget) came to the hospital to visit their Auntie Yaya. Auntie Tina and Uncle Mike got to visit with Dermot, and the cousins got to Skype with him from Auntie Yaya’s hospital room so they could see their new baby cousin! Dad might have forgotten to take a picture of Uncle Mike with Dermot, but we have pictures of the Skyping extravaganza and of Dermot with his godmother.
